About Warwickshire
Strategy Area Description: Warwickshire
The administrative county of Warwickshire includes the five districts and boroughs of North Warwickshire, Nuneaton and Bedworth, Rugby, Stratford-on-Avon, and Warwick. Solihull and Coventry fall within the West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA).
The Warwickshire Local Nature Recovery Strategy (LNRS) covers the county of Warwickshire.

Warwickshire’s central position, bordering with numerous counties, means that it provides an important route for species movement; good ecological linkages nationally are vital to help species adapt to climate change.

Nature Improvement Areas
Nature Improvement Areas (NIAs) are landscape-scale initiatives aiming to ensure land within the NIA benefits nature, people and the economy. The vision for NIAs was set out by Defra. NIAs are areas that have opportunities to create sustainable improvements for ecological networks by connecting, restoring and creating wildlife sites, alongside benefits to urban areas and local communities.

Local Nature Partnerships can identify new, locally determined NIAs within their areas based on criteria from Defra, and Local Planning Authorities can recognise NIAs in their plans.

Warwickshire, Coventry and Solihull Local Nature Partnership have set up two NIAs:
-
Tame Valley Wetlands NIA
-
Dunsmore Living Landscapes NIA
